Schaeffler Partners with Neura Robotics to Bring Humanoids Into Its Factories by 2035

German automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler has entered a partnership with Neura Robotics to co-develop and supply components for humanoid robots. The company plans to integrate a mid-four-digit number of humanoids into its own production lines by 2035, viewing humanoid robotics as a key future growth sector.

The move comes as Europe’s auto industry faces pressure from U.S. tariffs, weakening demand, and strong competition from China. Schaeffler has been steering toward new markets, previously signaling that up to 10% of its 2035 revenue could come from emerging sectors such as defense, eVTOL aircraft, and humanoid robotics.

As part of reshaping its portfolio, Schaeffler will sell its turbocharger business in China, which generated about €100 million in revenue in 2024.

CEO Klaus Rosenfeld said the company sees AI-driven humanoid robotics offering both internal productivity gains and new external business opportunities.

“Humanoids will become a very interesting activity for Schaeffler,” Rosenfeld noted, while acknowledging broader automotive market conditions remain challenging.
