Warren Community College Launches Applied Robotics & AI Degree
New Jersey’s Warren Community College is taking a bold step into the future of work with a new Applied Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Associate of Science degree — a 60-credit program that fuses five in-demand technology fields into one: robotics, mechatronics, automation, manufacturing, and AI.
WCC President Will Austin says the program reflects a shifting economic landscape where drones, automation, and AI are branching into every industry. “Everyone should be receiving, at least, some training in one of these new systems,” he emphasized. The goal is to give students mastery across the interconnected technologies driving the next generation of jobs.
Designed in collaboration with industry, the new degree prepares graduates for roles such as robotics programmers, control systems technicians, and automation specialists. Courses include Introduction to Industrial Control Systems and Introduction to Applied AI and Machine Learning, with hands-on labs built into every class session.
The program was intentionally built to be flexible and accessible:
No prior technical experience required
All in-person classes held in the evenings
Ideal for both new students and working adults upskilling for automation-era careers
Students will train inside WCC’s cutting-edge Advanced Robotics Development Lab, Advanced Manufacturing Lab, and Electronics Development Lab, gaining real-world experience from day one. The degree also provides a strong launchpad for those who want to pursue four-year engineering programs.
“We built this program from the ground up with a clear goal: to put our students at the absolute forefront of employer demand,” said Sai Sankar, director of Advanced Robotics/AI Research & Development. “Whether you’re starting fresh or gearing up for a new chapter, this degree gives you the cutting-edge skills companies are desperately seeking right now.”
Applications for next fall are encouraged, with details available via the college’s website or Student Services at ContactUs@warren.edu.
