ASI Acquires Scythe Robotics to Expand Autonomous Off-Road Vehicle Portfolio
Autonomous vehicle automation company Autonomous Solutions, Inc. (ASI) has announced the acquisition of Scythe Robotics, a Colorado-based developer of autonomous commercial landscaping equipment. The move brings Scythe’s AI-driven perception technology and autonomous mower platform into ASI’s growing portfolio of industrial robotics solutions.
The acquisition strengthens ASI’s position in the autonomous off-road vehicle sector while expanding the reach of Scythe’s technology across industries such as construction, agriculture, and industrial operations.
At the center of the deal is Scythe’s proprietary computer vision system, Scythe Sight®, and its flagship autonomous mower, the Scythe M.52 autonomous mower. The all-electric mower has become one of the most widely deployed autonomous machines in the commercial landscaping industry.
In 2025 alone, Scythe’s systems mowed nearly 2 billion square feet of land for customers operating across 30 U.S. states, demonstrating both the scale and reliability of autonomous equipment in outdoor maintenance.
“Both Scythe and ASI share a focus on building autonomy that operates every day in the real world,” said Jack Morrison, co-founder and CEO of Scythe Robotics. “This partnership will multiply the impact of our autonomy across the industries ASI already serves, while giving Scythe customers the benefits of ASI’s scale, operational maturity, and decades of success in off-road robotics.”
ASI, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Utah, has spent more than 25 years developing autonomous vehicle technology for demanding industrial environments. Its Mobius autonomous fleet management system enables fleets of heavy equipment—from mining vehicles to construction machinery—to operate autonomously.
According to Mel Torrie, CEO of ASI, the addition of Scythe’s AI perception capabilities will play an important role in the company’s next generation of autonomous equipment.
“ASI has decades of experience deploying autonomy where safety and reliability are essential,” Torrie said. “Scythe’s AI technology will help accelerate the development of autonomous equipment across multiple industrial sectors.”
Following the acquisition, Scythe will continue operating as a dedicated equipment brand within ASI Landscaping, maintaining its headquarters in **Longmont, Colorado. Leadership from Scythe will also take on roles within ASI to help integrate the technology and expand deployments.
ASI plans to maintain Scythe’s Longmont office while continuing to grow its broader operational footprint across facilities in Utah and Texas, including its 150-acre robotics testing site known as Homebase in northern Utah.
The deal reflects a broader trend in robotics toward autonomous systems designed for outdoor environments, where labor shortages, safety concerns, and sustainability pressures are driving demand for automated equipment.
With Scythe’s perception technology and electric autonomous mower platform now integrated into its ecosystem, ASI is positioning itself to expand autonomy beyond traditional industrial equipment and into the growing market for automated outdoor operations.
