ASTM International Unveils Free eLearning Course: “Introduction to Robot Standards”
ASTM International has released a new free online course introducing learners to the world of robotics standards. Designed to support students, early-career engineers, and organizations looking to adopt robotics safely and effectively, the course lays out the foundational frameworks that shape modern robot deployment.
The course is organized into five core modules:
Why Robot Standards Matter
Industrial & Collaborative Robot Standards
Mobile Robots and AMRs
Emerging Standards for Humanoids & Service Robots
Compliance, Certification & Future Trends
Learners will encounter real-world case studies, risk and safety considerations, and forward-looking discussions on how standards evolve. A short quiz at the end offers participants a shareable digital badge.
“Our goal is to give students and young roboticists a clear starting point,” said Aaron Prather, Director of Robotics and Autonomous Systems Programs at ASTM International. “There’s a growing need to understand not just how robots work—but how we deploy them safely, responsibly, and consistently.”
Schools, training providers, and organizations can integrate the course directly into their learning management systems through ASTM’s OnDemand Solutions team, ensuring seamless access and automatic updates as standards evolve.
