Ghost Robotics Unveils Manipulator Arm for Vision 60, Expanding Quadruped’s Mission Capabilities

Ghost Robotics has introduced a new manipulator arm for its Vision 60 Quadruped Unmanned Ground Vehicle (Q-UGV), a major upgrade that transforms the rugged robot dog from a mobility platform into a fully capable remote manipulator for hazardous and hard-to-reach missions.

The lightweight, modular arm is mounted on top of the Vision 60 and gives the robot the ability to perform complex tasks such as opening doors, retrieving objects, handling equipment, and interacting with its surroundings in both indoor and outdoor environments. With six degrees of freedom and a fully backdrivable design, the system offers smooth, force-sensitive control—extending the Vision 60’s utility without compromising the robot’s agility or durability.

The new arm significantly broadens the Vision 60’s operational envelope across defense, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), disaster response, inspection, manufacturing, and industrial settings where remote manipulation is essential. While the robot is engineered for extreme outdoor terrain—rain, snow, mud, sand, and rubble—Kenneally noted that “the toughest challenges are often inside the building,” where tasks like door-opening are critical for public safety and defense missions.

The Vision 60 platform is already in use by the U.S. Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, and numerous commercial partners in energy, construction, data-center operations, and critical infrastructure security. Known for its weatherproof design, three-times-longer endurance than many competing legged robots, and modular payload architecture, the Vision 60 is positioned as one of the most field-ready quadrupeds available.

With the addition of the manipulator arm, Ghost Robotics continues to push its quadruped beyond mobility alone—offering a multi-mission robotic platform capable of performing the dangerous, dirty, and dull tasks that keep human operators out of harm’s way.
