Mercado Libre Taps Agility Robotics to Bring Humanoid Robots Into Fulfillment Network

Mercado Libre, Latin America’s largest ecommerce and fintech ecosystem, has entered a commercial partnership with Agility Robotics to deploy the company’s humanoid robot Digit into its fulfillment operations, beginning with a facility in San Antonio, Texas. The agreement marks one of the region’s most significant moves toward integrating humanoid robotics into large-scale logistics workflows.

Under the partnership, Digit will begin performing material-handling tasks that support Mercado Libre’s commerce fulfillment operations. The companies also plan to explore additional use cases across Mercado Libre’s expanding logistics network in Latin America, where labor gaps, physically demanding roles, and rising throughput needs have accelerated demand for automation.

Enhancing Ergonomics and Filling Labor Gaps

Mercado Libre says the collaboration is part of its broader strategy to improve operational efficiency while enhancing safety and ergonomics for warehouse employees. Like many logistics operators, the company faces increasing difficulty filling roles that require repetitive lifting, bending, or long-duration physical labor.

At Mercado Libre, we are constantly exploring how emerging technologies can elevate our operations and improve the experience for our employees and millions of users,” said Agustin Costa, Senior VP of Shipping. “Our partnership with Agility Robotics and the deployment of Digit is a significant step forward in our vision to create a safer, more efficient, and adaptable logistics network.

Digit Brings Real-World Track Record to the Floor

Agility Robotics describes Digit as the first commercially deployed humanoid robot performing real repetitive work in production environments. The human-scale robot is designed to walk, carry totes, and move materials through existing aisles and workflows without requiring expensive facility redesigns.

Digit has already moved more than 100,000 totes in live operations across multiple customers, and leverages recent advances in AI to learn new tasks, adapt to workflow variations, and integrate with enterprise tools such as warehouse management systems, conveyors, and AMR fleets. Through Agility ARC, the company’s cloud automation platform, customers can deploy, manage, and coordinate fleets of humanoid robots alongside other automation technologies.

For Mercado Libre, the promise lies in Digit’s ability to autonomously support high-turnover roles while sustaining throughput and consistency—critical advantages as ecommerce volumes continue to grow across Latin America.

Growing Global Momentum for Humanoid Robotics

We are incredibly proud to be partnering with Mercado Libre to support their workforce and operations through the deployment of Agility’s humanoid robot Digit,” said Daniel Diez, Chief Business Officer at Agility Robotics. “Mercado Libre has demonstrated that it is a true innovator in commerce and fintech, and we are excited to integrate autonomous humanoid robots capable of performing meaningful work into their facilities.

Mercado Libre joins a growing roster of companies deploying Digit at scale, including GXO, Schaeffler, and Amazon. The partnership further cements Agility’s role as a leading provider in the rapidly expanding humanoid automation market, where logistics is emerging as the first major domain for commercial humanoid deployment.

As Digit begins work in Texas and Mercado Libre explores broader integration across Latin America, the partnership could shape how ecommerce companies in emerging markets leverage humanoid robotics to expand capacity, improve worker safety, and stay competitive amid rising service expectations.
